Inside the lid it is not really touching the metal as most lids are coated with a polymer that many times contains BPA… so either way you do not want it in constant contact with the lid. Right before drinking, if it needs a quick shake, that is no big deal… it is just longer time of contact between the organic acids and either plastic or metal that will be reactive or legcainh.Tim
